Hire this "builder" at your peril, paid 4000 for a new roof in November 2006 and have had nothing but problems ever since, cement falling out of ridge tiles in clumps, crashing to the floor outside our back door, creating a safety hazard, he came back once to repoint tiles but 3 months after it happened again, i rang him and he said he would be round "on the next dry day" - which seems to be his mantra, that was in september 2012, i never saw him again.

Rang him in March 2013 to be told he would - yeah you guessed it, "be round on the next dry day"! During his conversation I reminded him that I never messed him around with payment like he is messing me around, he then accused me of having a bad attitude.

in Feb this year during storms the roof lost several tiles due to this man's shoddy workmanship, I've just paid nearly £700 to have one whole hip replaced and several other tiles replaced and repointed, roofer who did the work was shocked at the substandard work, he found tiles cut at different angles, faulty tiles used when they should have been discarded, the wrong valley fitted and cheap grade felt was used when we paid for the best, also cement was found to be sandy and soft, very weak.

This man should be avoided at all costs, if you don't you will regret it, he should be banned from peoples' homes, I've known him all my life, he was a close friend of the family, if he can treat me that way imagine what he would do to others. We have contacted trading standards and on their advice are now going to pursue him legally for financial reimbursement.
