DHR
I took my bike in for a replacement rectifier on a Thursday, because I wanted my bike for the weekend (the first nice weekend of the year) and was told it will be done before saturday.
Over two weeks later, after hearing nothing from them, I get it back, with a 'new' rectifier (£90) that after examination is second hand, but apparently at the cost of a new one. I was also charged £185 total for a job that I could have done (diagnosed and replaced within 40 minutes).
After hearing of the charges incurred I asked for an itemized bill to show what was done, and was told that isn't possible because I was paying cash (why not?). After I finally picked my bike up I noticed that the neutral light would come on every time the clutch lever was engaged (this never happened before), regardless of what gear I was in.
And to top it off, when I removed the side panel to inspect the 'new' rectifier I noticed that the plastic clip that holds it to the bike had been snapped off and glued back together with super glue.
So this is my honest advice... If you don't like being ripped off, and love your bike, never and I mean NEVER take it to DHR in Whitfield, Near Dover. They made the mistake of assuming that I had no clue about mechanics, being that I am a mechanic myself. I am going to take this as far as I need to get justice and put this jumped up, scamming small time garage in their place.
By the way, they had the cheek to argue when questioned about the price of repairs by saying that I am lucky to have taken it to them as "a bike of that age wouldn't have been fixed anywhere else".
