The Upper Krust in Baillieston, Glasgow
The Upper Krust
As I paid for my food, which was ordinary cafe food and quite tasty, I was called a lazy bastard (please excuse the language) by the man taking my payment, who has apparently worked in or owned The Upper Krust for 15yrs. After a general chat where he asked me what I did for a living and I told him I was a teacher he told me that all teachers were LB (see above for meaning). I was too shocked to properly defend myself or my hard working colleagues at this point but he did elaborate and ensure that I knew exactly what he thought of teachers, which was all very negative and judgemental. Unfortunately I go to cafes for good service as well as tasty food and will not be returning. If you do go to this cafe I would avoid talking to this member of staff in case you too are verbally abused and made to feel the way I was. The rest of the staff seemed nice and the food was ok but that in no way made up for the rudeness of the person I encountered.
The guy who owns this place is unbelievably rude!
I popped in for something to eat and asked for a roll and scrambled egg which is no big ask only for him to huff and puff about it and reply with "aw fur f**k sake can you not just order something that's f***ing normal", then turning his back and walking away demanding that one of the ladies working there made it! She was mortified and continued to awkwardly make me my roll apologising for what happened.
This lovely chap is lucky he's the owner because he is 100% unemployable to any company. For the boss to act in such a manner is beyond me and to treat staff that way is also unacceptable. Customer service skills are non existent never mind his lack of management skills.
Once the lady, who was lovely, gave me my roll all I wanted to do was throw the piping hot egg at his face.
While he's treating customers like idiots he's happily taking our money which pays his wages and keeps his bizness going.
I would rather starve than return to this place.
I love the Upper Krust and have been going here weekly for years. We were one of their first customers and have been treated nicely ever since.
As for the other comments and ratings, the man who owns the place has a very blunt sense of humour but he is actually a very friendly and decent guy who has become a family friend.
