Travis Perkins Clearance Warehouse in Leicester
Travis Perkins Clearance Warehouse
I have visited this warehouse before with my husband when doing up a property and visited again on my own yesterday in search of items to complete my B and B renovations at the suggestion of the builder. How different these experiences were! The first time helpful and civil, the second time it was like being transported back to the 1950's!
I wandered in, found suitable items stacked up, about 2 pallets worth. Due to only being 5feet 3 inches tall asked a young employee if he would help me lift out an item from the middle of the stack which he politely and helpfully did. As he was helping me a man came up to him and whispered something just out of my hearing. The young lad then informed me that all the towel rails were sold. When I queried all of them despite still being labelled up in the sale he apologised and told me that the manager had just informed him that it was the case. He seemed to be embarrassed about this and apologised and pointed to the clearance bin. I was just starting to look through the dented and unsuitable items in this bin when another employee asked if mine was the blue car and could I move it. I came out of the warehouse to see a skip lorry and presumed it needed my space. I was surprised as the other cars next to me didn't need moving and the space I created was nowhere large enough for a skip. I moved my car to block the rest of the car park, the skip lorry moved a couple of feet and stopped and a forklift was parked behind me and then nothing. I was in the middle of the car park with nowhere to go and 4 men standing around staring at me. I sat there for a few minutes but felt humiliated so I left, having to drive though the entrance as my exit was blocked. I left the establishment feeling intimidated and angry. Later that afternoon I asked the builder to ring up asking for a towel rail of my specification and he had no problems!
