Harlequin Interiors in Leicester

We have used Harlequin for our kitchen dining furniture some 2 years ago spending in excess of £3000. When we purchased a new TV in May this year and required a TV stand we naturally went back to Harlequin for Italian design. The tv stand was quoted to us at £1,220 which we thought was expensive so asked Simon if he could do anything with the price. He said that he could order the TV stand in July and deliver it in September for a 10% discount. Somewhat bemused that he could not just offer a regular not insignificant customer a 10% discount anyway, and having decided that this stand was the one we wanted we reluctantly agreed to this.
However, Early October arrived and no TV stand and not so much as a telephone call to advise us of late delivery we called Harlequin to be told, with no apology I hasten to add, that delivery would be on the 22nd of October, which we agreed to. So the 18th of October arrives and I ring to check an delivery only to be told, with no apology yet again, that he thought the stand was ready for dispatch in Italy and would take some time. I insisted that we wanted it for the 22nd as promised Harlequin refused to arrange a courier such as UPS or TNT giving a garbled excuse such as import checks and vat numbers. I have traded with Europe for 25 years and never heard such a lame excuse. Anyway to cut a long story short I was informed today that delivery would be from Italy to a warehouse in the UK somewhere and then on to us making the delivery November. This I would not accept so insisted on my return of deposit. When I returned to the shop to collect the deposit cheque I was met wit Simon who would not even look me in the eye, did not want to discuss the matter just wanted to give me the cheque and get me out of the shop.

Will I return as a customer?
Will I recommend Harlequin?
I have to say a resounding NO. Simon, one of the owners does not understand what customer care is all about, or even what a telephone can be used for, that is, picking it up and informing the customer of late delivery, communication is key to business.
