We hired Alan to fit vinyl flooring in our small bathroom. Although Alan himself was prompt and courteous, the job he did was of a poor quality. He did not level the surface onto which the new flooring was to be laid, he did not glue the flooring down well to the edges, he took a large nick out of the new flooring leaving an unsightly gap by the bath, and generally did not finish the job to an acceptable standard.

When I discussed this matter with him, he denied that we had ever asked him to level the surface before laying the floor, even though that was the entire point of getting new flooring fitted (one of the previous vinyl tiles had to be removed when we had central heating fitted).

He agreed to refund part of the cost of the job, but to date we have not received the refund, and Alan has ignored repeated attempts to get in touch.

I simply cannot recommend AK Carpet Fitters, and we are very disappointed indeed.

I had an off cut from a stair carpet and wanted to use it in my bow room. I found Alan after a google search and contacted him to ask if he would be happy to do the job. He agreed to the request and we fixed a date for the weekend, in fact Alan was able to come to carry out the fitting a day earlier than agreed. He arrived early, a good sign! provided the underlay, grippers and laid the carpet very quickly. A lovely job, I will certainly use him again as he also supplies carpets, a gem who I highly recommend.
