Town & Country Driveways Ltd
Think twice about dealing with this company
Over the years we have had pattern pave driveways installed and were happy with it, so because we knew how good it was, we agreed to have Town & Country lay our driveway and patio etc. That was our first big mistake.
We were quoted £10200 by Town & Country in July 2014 and it was laid in March 2015. The £10200 is broken up into 50% initially, 40% before the concrete was laid with the balance after completion.
In reality the company has nearly all of the money before they begin to lay the concrete, in other words no comeback if they botch it.
Unfortunately it’s turned into a nightmare with very little or no Customer Care being shown by this company.
Without going into a long and drawn out epistle, we have been left with a driveway unfinished and not according to the building code.
There is however a need to clarify the situation we have had to address, that this company are unwilling or have declined to address.
1. The newly finished concrete lays about 150 mm above the damp course and air bricks of the house. Should be 150 mm below.
2 The Gas locker and door is 50 mm above the locker and the door won’t open, being a safety issue, we can't turn the gas off in an emergency.
3. Pools of water won't drain away due to the unevenness of the concrete.
4. The red colour powder, like dust, it’s what they use in the colouring process is still sitting on top of the concrete entering the house and everywhere else on the garden. In other words it’s still not finished after 5 weeks
5. The drainage system they installed is not connected up in places and effectively drains into the soil.
6. Along with the laying of concrete Town & Country laid drainage to carry surface water, in this instance the drains don’t interconnect and water does not fully drain into the waste.
Over the past month we have sent two emails and two letters to Town & Country driveways to have the issues sorted out, no response has come from them, even the director of the company won't respond.
There are a number of avenues we are forced to take which is the direction we are taking, producing a professional video in conjunction with Social Media, review websites with the option of TV's 'Cowboy Builders' We are also seeking legal advice to sort it out?
I have since discovered we are not alone in having to deal with Town & Country Driveways… there are a few of us in the same boat.
