Bridge Antiques in Helmsley, York
Bridge Antiques
I recently had a very similar experience to the reviewer above. When we entered the shop, the shop owner literally looked us up and down, and in a very abrupt tone said 'well what exactly is it that you are looking for?'. When we replied that we weren't looking for anything in particular she tutted and just walked off. We left the shop very quickly as we felt so unwelcome, and she couldn't shut the door behind us quick enough! We felt incredibly judged and unwelcome. I certainly would not return.
The elderly shop owner made me and my partner feel unwelcome, unwanted in her shop, she patronised us and made us feel judged for wanting to browse and not knowing much about antiques. The atmosphere was cold, dark and awkward. If you're looking for somewhere to buy jewellery or antiques in Helmsley - Avoid!
Well I thought it was just us!! My partner and I entered the shop and there was another customer in at the time so we went to browse and walked through into the back room and then at break neck speed the elderly lady who had been serving the other customers rushed through to us. She gave us the impression that we were not to be trusted as we were out of sight and would steal something. She then was extremely abrupt and unwelcoming. My partner asked if he could look at a clock but this seemed all too much for her as he wished to handle the clock to examine it. My only problem now is that I have seen something through the window I wish to buy my partner for his Christmas present. Dare I enter again!!! I would enter no stars as a rating but I am obliged to enter something to post this so one star will have to suffice.
