Cheap Mowers in Horsforth, Leeds
Cheap Mowers
Ordered a Mantis Tiller with lawn attachments last April. Price wasn't quite the cheapest but not far off and besides I thought it better to have someone I could deal with if there was any issue with machine. Asked for a delayed delivery as I was going on holiday, this didn't happen and delivery was made to a neighbour whilst I was away. No great problem, better to have than not, but with hindsight this was symptomatic of the 'we don't read emails we just sell machines.
Anyway the reason for the review is to advise on Cheap Mowers warranty policy. I broke one of the tines on the rotavator, not a problem as Mantis have a lifetime warranty. I had hoped for a rapid replacement as I was hoping to dig over a new veg plot that my wife has decided upon. Initial call to the warranty dept resulted in request for photos of tines, copy of my invoice and serial number of machine (reasonable but unnecessary - I thought - as they found my order on their system during my initial telcon and the tines which have the lifetime no quibble warranty don't have any serial numbers). However, I complied and emailed these within on 9th April asking for a call back to arrange drop off. No answer so called following day, was advised that the company had a 28 time frame for dealing with warranty claims (but they usually take less). However, I arranged and did drop off item that day (10th Apr) and was told warranty would call me back with progress. I called again on either 14th or 15th and was advised that they had spoken with Mantis and a replacement was en route and might be with them in time to reship to me before easter.
Heard nothing again so called today to ask what was happening and to let them know I thought their cust service was poor. Spoke with warranty (I was told she is also a director) and expressed my dissatisfaction, the lady took my feedback as a personal attack and it was an uncomfortable discussion especially as my intention was to provide feedback and let them know what I thought great customer service would look like (a call back in response to my initial email, regular updates on progress and if there was going to be a long delay before I got a replacement my damaged tine back to use until replacement turned up) I did get a call back after todays call (22nd April) from their parts dept advising that Mantis are temporarily out of stock. However, replacement will be shipped directly to me. So if price is the most important Cheap Mowers may be for you, However, if great support is important buy from somewhere else..
I have recently bought a lawn mower from cheapmowers.com online. I gave them the chance through Homebase had a sale on which meant they were exactly the same price. Turns out, the lawn mower is no longer available (despite receiving confirmation e-mail).
Cheapmowers.com were still selling it the next day. Called up and was offered a model that they sell for the same price but everyone else sells cheaper. "We haven't changed our website yet as we are very busy" - with changing orders I imagine. I can't help feeling there is something deliberate about all of this. Missed the sale at Homebase but learned a lesson.
