After my three year apprenticeship at 'Vin Miller' s in Preston, I passed my City and Guilds examinations in 1975. I did service in the Royal Navy from 1976-1980 as a missileman, keeping my hand in the barbering profession by cutting my fellow crew members hair as required. After serving my time in the navy, and working a short spell at 'Bibby & Barron's in Bury I got back into my barbering by running the village barbers in Ramsbottom for a while before opening my first barber shop on Rochdale Rd. Bury in 1983, where I stayed until opening in Little Lever in 1995.
