I got Mohammed or mehemet (who calls himself Tony) to do my driveway. He quoted me £2000.00 which I paid 50% upfront as deposit to buy the material as he requested (which was a big mistake). He does not work himself but employs illegal migrants to work for him who have not worked before in this business, and some of them can’t even speak English but only Albanian! After a big struggle with him to finish the job which took more than 4 weeks, as he takes many jobs at the same time. My driveway now is sinking as he did not dig enough for foundation (he just dug about 2 inches). However, the worst part was when his labourer ran through my wall damp course and he filled it with cement and did not tell me. I only knew when I had the damp rising and ruining the front of my house. When he was called to repair his mistake after I showed him the letter from the chartered surveyor who told me about him breaching my wall damp course, he showed the worst cowboy attitude and told me that his job is immaculate and this chartered surveyor does not know anything about construction, and I can do my worst if I can catch him.
