Niche Jewellery in Leigh-on-Sea

I bought a couple of pieces as Christmas presents for my wife. However less than a week after purchasing from this store, I found out that somebody had bought her some very similar jewellery. I therefore decided to return the ring and get her something completely different. I went into store armed with my receipt and ring, still in the bag I received it in. I was told that they were not prepared to offer refunds, only exchanges or credit notes. I find this completely unreasonable, I don't want to exchange for more jewellery, nor do I want to give my wife a bloody gift voucher for Christmas which I'm now stuck with. The next time I need to purchase jewellery I'll steer clear and shop at a one of the major brands like Ernest jones who do operate a perfectly reasonable refund policy, rather than my local small business jeweller from whom I expect to be receiving a far higher class of service.
