Reeds Professional Cleaning and Alterations
They altered a dress for my daughter and it is now ruined and can't be put right.
The side seems at the side of the bodice no longer alines with the side of the skirt, so the bodice is twisted and badly wrinkles. The back zip is obviously in an 'S' shape and with it - being in a contrasting color - it looks like what can only be described as a mess. Even the darts they put in at the bust where in completely different places and these are just a few of the problems.
They have refused to refund me the money back for the alteration and, as the dress is now ruined, they are also refusing to pay be consequential losses for ruining my dress. I now have trading standards involved!
I picked Reeds because it looked professional and being situated in the Trafford Centre I thought this would be a good place to get my daughters new dress altered and steamed for a wedding she was attending Wrong! I picked it up tonight and asked to inspect it before I left, the back of the dress had not been stitched probably leaving a hole where the zip ended. When I questioned this she said if they could put some stitches there but the zip will not go all the way down, they took the zip out to bring the waist in a little. She said they could stitch it where they had left the hole but if I didn't like it I would have to pay for the stitching to be unpicked. I choose for them to put a couple of stitches there which now bulks out a bit in that area but it was better then a hole being there. It's was still creased in many places and the assistant had to keep on going back to the steamer, she made me feel embrassed at checking the dress. I left the shop walked a few paces down re-checked it and it was still creased in many places I was that hoping mad. I didn't dare go back in as I felt the place had hostility around it and no one smiled and walked around as if the didn't want to be there. I came home and steamed it myself. What a waste of £47. 97 and £20. 99 of that was for the steaming. It wasn't a big job a slight taking in of the waist and steaming to get rid of the creases through the dress being posted when bought online from phase eight. I am very disappointed in the workmanship, and how the staff made you feel at bring a fault to their attention. I will not be using Reeds professional cleaning and alterations again as there was nothing professional about this company.
