Fyffe's Car Services
Will try keep this as brief as it needs... booked car in for friday 19th october 2013 for timing belt and water pump replacement, was told would be talking about 3 to 4 hours for the job, went to pick car up 6 hours later (3 hour job remember) as ain't heard nothing from them... to be told yeah car was ready. Paid and jumped in car... car wouldn't idle and spluttery as a spluttery thing on start up. Told him he said it should settle... yeah right... followed mate up the road that took me down, 6 times car had cut out before I got home... soon as mate heard it he said that timing belt is a tooth out...
So, phoned up Fyffes to tell him something wasn't right... and that my mate who knows about cars/engines that the timing was a tooth out, to which he replied "impossible" lol, he said "well, we got all the locking tools here for the job involved", he told me to take car back down... told him I would have if i didn't have to take the Mrs to work, so he told me to take car down to him on Monday 21st october 2013 but, and here's the cracker, told me that if he stripped it down and timing belt was set up correctly that I would need to pay again lol (what a belter of a set up they have there), anyways...
I took it to somebody else today 19th october 2013 for him to check the timing on it... set it up to tdc...put in the locking pin...then tried the cam locking tool on it... and hey presto guess what ? Cam locking tool wouldnt go on... telling even me that Fyffes fitted the timing belt without even using the proper locking tool on my car... yeah good one... so let's just set them all up to tdc and don't bother using the correct tool for the job. So 4 hours later, after using the correct tools I might add, my car is fixed and running sweeter than its ever been (thanx to Sean Dunn/Balgray Place/Dundee), and no thanks to Fyffes Car Services.
And what's the betting that if I took my car back to them, that there would have been nothing wrong with the timing, would he have admitted that? absolutely no chance of that! Oh and btw... Sean also told me that i was lucky that i still had a car so the moral of the story... do not use this company... you have been warned.
