After agreeing a price of £40 for an MOT and £130 for a full service, a total of £170, I was astonished to find that my bill came to £210.58. Two items on the bill came to £10.08 (inc VAT), so I was overcharged by £40.50. I clearly asked what it would cost me for my servicing and was told clearly £170. The man who gave me the bill said I would have been quoted a price and told plus VAT but I was not. Any garage that gives a price plus VAT is in my opinion bent as everyone wants to know what the total cost will be. I thought these sharp practices were no longer carried out by garages. To be fair they did reduce my bill to £200 when I complained but they still owe me £30.50. Watch them.
