John Storrier & Son
Appalling treatment.
With a heavily leaking roof and estimated 3 to 4 thousand pounds worth of overall work, I contacted this local company for a repair quote. I always try to offer small local companies work, if possible, to support small businesses and local communities.
The property is a divided former mansion from 18.30, with both parties fully aware of joint legal liabilities and the need for urgent repair.
Craig from Storrier visited on a Friday to look over the job, seemed professional and knowledgeable, and promised to return on the Monday. Monday passed with no contact from them at all. I phoned them on Tuesday afternoon to check when they'd return, as more rain water was pouring down our walls, with buckets out to collect it.
Storrier advised: “we've washed our hands of you”, as I'd not specifically mentioned the joint overall property maintenance liability, and Storrier classed us as “flats”. He seemed angry and in the belief we'd wasted his time. This is ridiculous; it's not been any problem for any other local companies, nor does it pose any issue with their receipt of payment. How should any potential customer know of Storrier's particularly pedantic, backward and unbuisnesslike requirements?
As a registered Architect myself, I've seldom come across such poor business attitude.
This is an appalling way to treat potential customers. No regard for the urgency of repairs to a home with two young kids, nor any sense of common decency in letting the customer know of their disinterest. Storrier were abrupt, curt and generally discourteous on the phone.
Based on this appalling experience, I would certainly not advise anyone to waste their time with Storrier & Son.
