GWRS A St Blazey
The GWRSA is a membrs only club just off Middleway in St Blazey originally for the use of Railway staff and ex or retired railway staff. There are aways two real ales on sale offered in two rooms. There is live entertainment every Friday night and the the club is open every night with the addition of Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons. There is an attractive draught free smoking area outsid and small beer garden for the warmer weather. More Railway and ex Railway staff always needed as members as well as other people. Children can be brought into the club up to the time of 7pm. Various other functions are available throughout the year and the atmosphere is conducive to all. Potential members may visit the club up to three times before applying for membership which is the compulsory. There is ample parking spaces and a warm welcome awaits.
G.W.R.S.A. stands for the Great Western Railway Staff Association. Membership is required but you don't have to be a railwayman or woman or retired version of the former to join. Membership is kept to a reasonable yearly amount and gives discounted drinks prices (including real ales) and free admission to live music on Saturday nights and much more.
Being an ex railwayman (26 years service to be precise), I became a member of the st Blazey GWRSA. It's a nice little club but sorely needs more ex railway staff, especially on the lunchtimes (when open - Wed, Fri, Sat and Sun). Other days the club is opened later from about 5pm. The lunchtimes in the week can be rather quiet and needs more patronage. If this could be with railway and ex railway staff, so much the better. So come on you railway lot reading this. If you live in the area please patronise the club before it's too late and goes the way of so many other Railway Staff Association clubs and closes its doors permanently.
Regards, Paul.
