Otex-International in London

I used this company to move from my house in Rye East Sussex to Tweedmouth, Northumberland. I chose the full packing service as we had a lot of belongings. My first impression of Otex was good, they were responsive to emails and seemed very organised. I asked if they could send me some boxes in advance so I could start packing my kitchen, the boxes reached me the next day. However, things went down hill as soon as I'd paid in full !! My contact stipulated 5-6 men including a supervisor, to pack and load day one, then unload day 2. I mentioned on a number of occasions that my partner and I would like them to arrive as early as possible, as we had to drive 7 hours that same day to reach the new house. I also purposely packed a large percentage of the household items (even though I paid for full packing), just so they would be able to pack the rest and load quickly. Day 1, they arrived 3 hours late and the first thing they did was have a cigarette break; only 3 people turned up, even though my quote clearly said 5-6 team. The 'SUPERVISOR' was rude when I questioned him and just told me to call the office, which I did without success. I also requested and paid for a cleaner through OTEX, as I wanted them to clean the carpets as each room was cleared, bear in mind my partner and I had already cleared the top and middle floors of the house; the cleaner finally arrived 3 hours later than the removal guys, looked round, then disappeared?? We found out several hours later, he'd gone home sick, but didn't bother to tell anyone. So it was now 5pm, my partner and I had helped with the packing and I was frantically cleaning; we were pretty stressed and tired, and we still had a 7 hour drive up north to contend with. Finally at 6pm, the van had been loaded, but unfortunately not FULLY loaded, as the person who came round to estimate the cubic feet requirement had seriously under estimated. So my partner and I had to pack our 2 cars to the absolutely rim, to accommodate for what the removal guys couldn't manage. A week later when we started unpacking (as we didn't move straight in to the new house), we started to notice just how little care was taken when packing our items. Lots of scratches, dents and scrapes. A lot of our items hadn't even been boxed, just put directly in the lorry without any protection, including my underwear!!!!!!!!! They had several hanging boxes for clothes, but just threw the clothes in at the bottom of the box, without hanging; they put delegate lights at the bottom of boxes without protection and put heavy items on top, obviously the lights were broken when we unpacked. I wrote and asked to receive details of their complaints procedure, that was over a week ago and I haven't had any response. So I haven't been able to claim back on any of the damage they caused, which will amount to £100's, as a lot of our furniture and picture frames etc were bespoke. I can't stress enough how awful this company are, use them at your own peril, but you've been warned!! I have moved approx. 14 times in the past 20 years and have never had any issues with previous removal companies, until now, with Otex-International.
