The Safety breakaway couplings consists of two housings, male and female, each contains a valve that has a sealing surface (see how our safety breakaway couplings work here). The valves remains constantly open under normal use. The break studs that secure the two housings only break when there is excessive force, such as in a truck or railcar drive away situation. When the housings separate, this allows the valves to close. Product loss is minimized as the spring energized valves close rapidly, this minimizing exposure to personnel and the environment.
