We are fully accredited Chimney Sweep, trained, asessed and approved by the Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps. We use traditional rods in varoius sizes along with brushes of both different diameter and bristle strength to determin what is the best way to clean a conventional chimney. With liners and flues we adopt a different approach as normal rods and brushes can damage the liner.
Here, I would use small flexible rods with softer deeper brushes or the German Viper system with soft brushes to suit stainless steel liners. This system uses a continious rod with no joints, so if far gentler on the internals of the liner. Gone are the days of mess everywhere after the sweep has visited. Modern powerful hazzardous vacuum cleaners with triple filtration takes care of the muck and mess. New methods of sealing up the appliance and the powerful vacuum cleaner does keep the soot and deposits under control.
