AR Billiald in Churt, Farnham

I have been buying my apples from the Hyde Orchard for many years and always go back regularly throughout the winter. They have a wide range of apples, though the main crop is Cox's Orange Pippin, which are delicious. They are picked when ripe and full of flavour, and not when they are green and immature like supermarket apples. I feel a few marks or irregularities on an apple add to its character, so I always phone ahead and get them to put me out a 30 lb box of seconds - cheaper and a good mix of sizes. However, you can always have the perfect ones if you prefer. The shop also has some very good chutneys and jams - I particularly like their Bombay chutney, which is hot with a lot of flavour. Highly recommended.
