Birmingham Billiards
Disgraceful service from Birmingham Billiards. One problem after another. The initial installation was shoddy and inept. The table was positioned too close to the wall to play a shot. Two of the legs were fitted the wrong way around. The pockets let the balls fall to the floor and you can see staples holding he cloth behind them. The whole table was badly out of level. The accessories provided were very poor.
We understand that things can go wrong, but expected a prompt response. That didn’t happen. We just got fobbed off. Only the threat of legal action got a response. They eventually sent someone to sort out the problems and promised to return to re-level the table when it had settled again. They didn’t come back.
Five months later, we still had issues with the pockets, an unlevel table, side pieces which regularly fell off the legs with a thud and, worst of all, a large ridge on the playing surface, which meant the balls left the table when they hit it. Most of the balls supplied had chips in them by this time.
We contacted Birmingham Billiards, who promised to rectify the situation, but did absolutely nothing. As we hadn’t been able to play a game on it for a month, we had to get a professional in to sort it out. His observations were as follows: -
The table wobbled as all the legs were loose.
Pockets were fitted wrongly, leading to the cheap balls getting chipped.
No bearers were present under the table to help with adjusting the slate.
The nap on the end cushions was the wrong way round.
The loose side pieces just didn’t fit and have had to be held in place with blue tack.
Having paid over £4000 for a table, we expected a quality item installed properly with any problems sorted out with no fuss. Couldn’t recommend this firm to anyone and wish that we had just bought a second hand table now… And they have the cheek to showpiece our table on the homepage of their website…!
