I joined this gym in June 2013. The people were very friendly. I discussed whether it was better to try pay as you go and concluded that I would try monthly. I was informed that it was £55 to join and then £25 per month. Importantly there was no mention of a tie in period of 12 months!
I remember being asked to fill out my details and sign the form and then they said they would fill in the details of the membership. I trusted them. On reflection a very big mistake. I recently started commuting to London for my job and don't get back in time to be able to go now. As it is only open at the weekend on a Saturday morning I therefore have very little opportunity to use it. I wrote to the gym and explained that I would like to cancel and was told that I was tied in for 12 months. I explained my situation but they said there was nothing they could do and I should take it up with Harlands. I was slightly confused as the contract was with the gym but apparently this other company manage the direct debits. When I contacted Harlands they referred me back to the gym. I have written to the gym again over a week ago but as yet no response. I have subsequently discovered that it is now £20 a month so I am paying more than new people do to join. I am very disappointed by the way I have been treated by these people who certainly appear very friendly when they want your business, but once they have it they are not interested in the customer. Based on my experience therefore I would not recommend this place and urge caution for anyone who is considering joining.
