The Cream Shop in Beer, Seaton
The Cream Shop
Not impressed with the cream shop. We have visited Devon on many occasions and have been in this shop previously. On this occasion we purchased scones cream and jam. The jam was lovely and the scones were OK (they did tell us in the shop that their scones are frozen not fresh - seems strange). The cream was sold and labelled as clotted cream unfortunately it was not. When we opened the cream it could be poured out. Thinking at first it was off we looked for an expiry date - none found. The cream smelt and tasted OK so it was not off. This was sold at £3.45 a tub and basically is a con. Go elsewhere (as we had to) to get your clotted cream.
Went to this "cream shop" on a recent stay in the beautiful village of Beer. Very expensive for things such as jam, fudge etc. Almost £4 for a small box of fudge. Service was pleasant enough but that's as good as it gets. Cannot understand why shopkeepers feel the need to mark up their prices to the extreme just because it's a bit of touristy village.
